Head football coach John Bonamego spent Friday, Aug. 21, running practice and addressing the media at the team's annual media day. First, however, he made a trip to Ann Arbor to complete a grueling eight-week cycle of chemotherapy and radiation treatments for tonsil cancer.
Bonamego was able to "ring the bell" Friday morning at the
University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center,
a rite of passage for cancer patients on their final day of treatment. The milestone comes less than two weeks before Bonamego's first game as CMU's head coach.
“I’m glad to be back, I’m glad to be done with treatment,” Bonamego said.
