Due to overwhelming interest in Daymond John's upcoming visit as part of the Central Michigan University Speaker Series, CMU has changed the venue from the 1,275-capacity Warriner Hall Plachta Auditorium to the 2,300-capacity Finch Fieldhouse.

The event is free and open to the public. Seating is first-come, first-served and no tickets are required.

Daymond John, founder and CEO of FUBU and star of ABC’s “Shark Tank,” will speak at Central Michigan University as part of the CMU Speaker Series at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, in Finch Fieldhouse. His talk, “Get into the Goal-Setting Mindset,” is free and open to the public.

Over the past 20 years, John has evolved from one of the most successful fashion icons of his generation to one of the most sought-after branding experts and business and motivational speakers in the country. The multibillion-dollar global fashion empire leader and television personality will share his expertise on becoming a successful entrepreneur and business executive.

A native of Hollis, a middle-class neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens and the birthplace of hip-hop music, John created one of the most iconic fashion brands in recent years. FUBU, or “For Us By Us,” is an urban apparel label that started in his mother’s basement and has grown to more than $4 billion in worldwide retail sales.

John has been a cast member for eight years of “Shark Tank,” an entrepreneurial reality TV show. As one of the “Sharks,” John joins four other executives in listening to business pitches from everyday people. He invests his own money and becomes partners with winning entrepreneurs.

His book, “Display of Power: How FUBU Changed A World of Fashion, Branding and Lifestyle,” documents his story and provides a roadmap for those who aspire to succeed in business and in life. His second book, “The Brand Within: How We Brand Ourselves, From Birth to the Boardroom,” examines branding relationships among companies, the public and celebrities and how they are integrated into every aspect of our lives.

John has been featured on Bloomberg News, CNBC, Fox Business and the Wall Street Journal. He has earned several prestigious awards including Crain’s Business of New York 40 Under Forty Award, NAACP Entrepreneur of the Year, BrandWeek Marketer of the Year and Ernst & Young’s New York Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
