Central Michigan University hosts more than 500 events each year, many of which are free and open to the public. Highlighted events from Thursday, Aug. 21, to Wednesday, Aug. 27, include:

MAINstage — Saturday

The CMU Student Activities and Involvement Office will host MAINstage at 5 p.m. Saturday near Rose Ponds with carnival rides, games and music. This event is free and open to the public. Call 989-774-3016 for more information.

Dan + Shay Concert — Saturday

CMU's Program Board will present American country music singers Dan + Shay in concert at 8:30 p.m. Saturday near Rose Ponds. This event is free and open to the public.

"Captain America" Movie at Kelly/Shorts Stadium — Saturday

CMU's Program Board will present a free showing of the movie, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," at 10:15 p.m. Saturday in Kelly/Shorts Stadium. This event is open to the public.

#ChatUnited Twitter Conversation — Tuesday

The CMU Marching Band will host an hourlong Twitter chat at 6 p.m. Tuesday about quality education and how our community can help children achieve their potential. Join the conversation @UnitedWayIsaCo
