Central Michigan University hosts more than 500 events each year, many of which are free and open to the public. Highlighted events from Thursday, July 17, to Wednesday, July 23, include:

College of Business Administration Day — Friday

The College of Business Administration at Central Michigan University will host an open house Friday in Warriner Hall. High school students and prospective transfer students will have the chance to learn about studying abroad, earning certification, and gaining internships in fields ranging from entrepreneurship, accounting, business information systems, marketing and hospitality. The day offers the opportunity to attend an academic showcase presentation highlighting student experiences, including CMU's nationally recognized SAP University Alliance Program, take a guided campus tour, enjoy lunch in a residential restaurant, and attend a Student Services fair. College of Communication and Fine Arts Day — Friday

The College of Communication and Fine Arts at Central Michigan University will host an open house Friday in Moore Hall. High school students and prospective transfer students are invited to learn about experiences for students in the arts and media, including working at CMU's award-winning student-run television station or newspaper, participating on the nationally recognized debate and forensic teams, and performing in musical and theatrical productions. The day offers the opportunity to attend an academic showcase presentation highlighting programs of study, facilities and career options; take a guided campus tour; enjoy lunch in a residential restaurant; and attend a Student Services fair. "Hallowed Grounds" Exhibit — Monday through September 19

A fiber art exhibit by artist Michelle Wilson featuring books, prints and paper works that were constructed with and printed on handmade papers, will be on display daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through September 19 in Park Library's Baber Room. Many of the pieces illustrate the crossroads of human political actions and ecological systems and how social and environmental justices often work in tandem. An opening reception will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

"Let's Rock!" Workshop — Tuesday

The College of Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Museum of Cultural and Natural History at Central Michigan University will host a "Let's Rock!" workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday in Rowe Hall 103. Designed for families with children in kindergarten through eighth grade, hands-on activities will teach participants about different types of rocks, the rock cycle and how to identify rocks in your own backyard. Boulders around CMU's campus will be identified and explored. Limited space is available and prepaid reservations are required. The cost is $2 per person, and scholarships are available. Author Robert Knapp to speak at Clarke Library — Tuesday

The Clarke Historical Library at Central Michigan University will host author Robert Knapp at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Park Library Auditorium. He will discuss his new book, "Mystery Man: Gangsters, Oil and Murder in Michigan," that tells the story of Isaiah Leebove, Jack Livingston, and a cast of gangsters and oil barons, set in the days of Michigan's oil boom. This talk is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception in Clarke Historical Library.

Advanced Chippewa Academy Soccer Camp — Sunday through Wednesday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host an Advanced Chippewa Academy Soccer Camp for grades 3 through 6 Sunday through Wednesday. This camp will focus on age appropriate technical skills and tactical decision making through fun activities and games. The cost is $325 for those staying in residence halls and $225 for commuters.  Register online at soccer.cmusportscamps.com by midnight Friday.

Elite ID Chippewa Academy Soccer Camp — Sunday through Wednesday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host an Elite ID Chippewa Academy Soccer Camp for grades 7 through 12 Sunday through Wednesday. This camp will provide a challenging, competitive developmental learning environment for players looking to refine current skills, develop new skills and foster their passion for the game. The cost is $325 for those staying in residence halls and $225 for commuters. Register online at soccer.cmusportscamps.com by midnight Friday.

High Jump, Sprints and Shot Put Track Camp — Tuesday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a High Jump, Sprints and Shot Put Track Camp for grades 7 through 12 Tuesday. This camp will be split into two two-hour technical training sessions that will cover the athlete's specific running and track and field area of concentration. Athletes must provide their own shots and shoes/spikes. Lunch will be provided daily. The cost is $75. Register online at track.cmusportscamps.com by midnight Sunday.

Discus, Pole Vault, Long Jump and Hurdles Track Camp — Wednesday

Central Michigan University Athletics will host a Discus, Pole Vault, Long Jump and Hurdles Track Camp for grades 7 through 12 Wednesday. This camp will be split into two two-hour technical training sessions that will cover the athlete's specific running and track and field area of concentration. Athletes must provide their own discus, vault poles and shoes/spikes. Lunch will be provided daily. The cost is $75. Register online at track.cmusportscamps.com by midnight Monday.
