​Central Michigan University hosts more than 500 events each year, many of which are free and open to the public. Highlighted events from Thursday, Sept. 4, to Wednesday, Sept. 10, include:

“The Neighbors” movie — Thursday

Central Michigan University’s Program Board will present a free showing of the movie, “The Neighbors,” at 9 p.m. Thursday on the lawn between the Health Professions Building and Finch Fieldhouse.

“The Complete World of Sports (abridged)” theater performance — Thursday through Sunday

The University Theatre company at Central Michigan University will present “The Complete World of Sports (abridged)” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in Bush Theatre. Purchase tickets through CMU Ticket Central or call 989-774-3045.

Central Michigan University vs. Oakland women’s soccer game — Friday

The Central Michigan University Chippewas will host the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies at 4 p.m. Friday in Mount Pleasant. Click here for the team's 2014-15 schedule or call 989-774-3041 for more information.

Central Michigan University vs. Marshall women’s volleyball game — Friday

Central Michigan University vs. Green Bay women’s volleyball game — Saturday

The Central Michigan University Chippewas will host the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay Phoenix at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Pleasant. Click here for the team's 2014-15 schedule or call 989-774-3041 for more information.

Dance United open call audition — Sunday

United Way of Isabella County will host an open call audition for Dance United at 5 p.m. Sunday in Rose Center 127. Dancers of all ages are invited to try out. Call 989-774-3686 to sign up.

Faculty artist Jay Batzner concert — Tuesday

Central Michigan University’s School of Music professor Jay Batzner will present a concert featuring his latest compositions at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Music Building’s Staples Family Concert Hall. Call 989-774-3000 to purchase tickets.

Speak Up, Speak Out forum — Wednesday

Central Michigan University will present “The Power of the Vote” as part of a Speak Up, Speak Out series at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Park Library Auditorium. Contact Andrew Blom for more information.

New Venture Competition meeting  — Wednesday

The College of Business Administration at Central Michigan University will host a startup meeting about the 2015 CMU New Venture Competition at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Grawn Hall 150. Contact Brenda Pung at 989-774-3270 for more information.

“From DNA to Beer: Harnessing Nature in Medicine and History” exhibit —through Sept. 13

This National Library of Medicine free, traveling exhibit is on display through Sept. 13 in Park Library’s Baber Room and promotes understanding of the dynamic relationship between microbes, technology, science and medicine.
