UPDATE: Central Michigan University is closing all locations in Mount Pleasant today, June 23, due to flooding.
Summer conferences and camps, as well as summer school check-in, will proceed as planned today and this weekend.
Employees who work in 24-hour operations or whose services may be needed during the closure should check with their supervisor for specific instructions relative to reporting to work. All other employees are not expected to report to work until the university reopens Monday.
Jonathan Webb, associate vice president of facilities management, said three more hours of rain are predicted and then there needs to be time for the streets to clear.
"I'm told this is like the flooding of 10 years ago," said Webb, who joined CMU last fall. "Roads are flooded off campus as well. At this point, we have to wait for the rain to stop. We urge employees to stay home and give crews time to work."
