New Central Michigan University programs – each kicking off in the fall 2016 semester – have been designed to prepare students to work in industries with high demand for specially trained professionals. The programs, all of which are offered online, include training in health care administration, deafblind intervener, special education, and training and development.

Online Master of Health Administration
CMU's new online Master of Health Administration degree program prepares students for health care leadership positions such as senior-level hospital administration, nursing home CEO and group practice manager. Students are trained through the 51-credit-hour online program in critical thinking and strategic operations, with courses focusing on topics such as finance, marketing, economics, planning, population health, quantitative methods and management as they apply to health care organizations.

Online deafblind intervener certificate
As one of only two programs of its kind in the U.S., CMU's new online Deafblind Intervener Certificate program will train students and professionals to improve educational outcomes for students who are deafblind. The 12-credit-hour program is relevant for those who study or work in special education, communication disorders, physical therapy and therapeutic recreation.
Additionally, graduates of the Deafblind Intervener Certificate program will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the key concepts of deafblindness, as a result they will be able to obtain the national intervener credential offered by the
National Resource Center for Paraeducators.

Online Master of Science in Administration concentration in training and development
Business and administration are key components of CMU's new Master of Science in Administration concentration in training and development. This 36-credit-hour program emphasizes innovative training and personnel development methods, such as instructional technology and social media, to enhance the marketable skills of training and development professionals. It is designed to enable administrators to lead the training needs of a variety of organizations and will promote the deeper insights and larger context necessary to make sound decisions in an evolving workforce.

Online Master of Science in Administration concentration in project management
The Master of Science in Administration concentration in project management will prepare current and aspiring managers, administrators and supervisors for careers in both the private and public sectors. The 36-credit-hour program emphasizes innovative training and personnel development methods, such as instructional technology and social media and will enhance the marketable skills of training and development professionals. Online Master of Arts in special education
CMU's Master of Arts in special education program, which has been offered on the main campus in Mount Pleasant for many years, will soon be available to educators everywhere. By providing this program online, educators interested in completing an advanced degree in this in-demand field can do so while maintaining their jobs and family demands. Students will take 18 credit hours of core courses and will have the choice of pursuing an endorsement in either autism spectrum disorder or learning disabilities, adding an additional 21 or 15 credit hours, respectively.
