David Patton, interim associate vice president of enrollment management at Central Michigan University, has been appointed acting associate dean of the
College of Science and Engineering.
The appointment takes effect Sept. 1 and runs to June 30, 2019.
Patton has worked for
Enrollment and Student Services the past two years. The first year was spent as a mentee of Vice President Steven Johnson while serving as one of CMU’s first senior administrative fellows. He moved into his most recent role during the second year.
Patton said he thoroughly enjoyed working with Johnson and the rest of the leadership and staff of Enrollment and Student Services. He also enjoyed learning the intricacies of enrollment management and helping to shape critical, related strategies.
“My first passion and commitment, however, is to academics,” Patton said. “This opportunity as acting associate dean allows me to serve the faculty and students in a role that builds on the work I did as geography department chair and a faculty member for 15 years.”
“Returning to the college, I’ll bring greater appreciation of enrollment management and student services at the university level,” he said. “I look forward to using that experience to help move the college forward.”
