The State Senate Subcommittee on Higher Education will hear testimony from CMU President George E. Ross Thursday afternoon in Park Library. The hearing will be the first in the 2015-2016 state budget process.

Faculty, students, staff and community members are invited to attend the 1:30 p.m. hearing in Park Library 337. Wayne State University and the Michigan State University Cooperative Extension Service also are scheduled to testify.

President Ross will incorporate comments from two students and a faculty member in his testimony about CMU’s significant contributions to the state. The subcommittee has set aside 20 minutes for each university to testify.

Last week, Gov. Rick Snyder unveiled his proposed budget, which includes an additional $28 million for Michigan’s 15 public universities. The proposal includes a 3 percent increase in funding for CMU.

Reporters and the public are welcome to attend.
