The Central Michigan University Board of Trustees has scheduled a special formal session starting at 10 a.m. Friday to appoint CMU's 15th president.
The meeting will be in the Sarah and Daniel Opperman Auditorium in Park Library, a location chosen to accommodate an expected larger-than-usual attendance. The incoming president will attend the meeting.
President George E. Ross announced in January that he would be stepping down from his leadership role, effective today. A search advisory committee, chaired by Board Vice Chair Tricia Keith, was appointed in February and presented five candidates to the trustees in June.
The board met Monday to appoint Executive Vice President and Provost Michael Gealt to the role of interim president, ensuring daily operations continue smoothly as faculty and staff prepare for the start of the fall semester.
