WCMU Public Television’s award-winning “Destination Michigan” now will reach viewers in Indiana and Illinois. WIPB in Muncie, Indiana, and WEIU in Charleston, Illinois, have added the production to their programming schedules.

The two new stations join WCMU in Mount Pleasant, WKAR in Lansing, WGVU in Grand Rapids and WNMU in Marquette in broadcasting the WCMU production.

“Destination Michigan” explores Michigan’s splendor — from golden beaches and rolling farmland to urban areas rich in recreational attractions — and people with remarkable and noteworthy stories.

“The audience for ‘Destination Michigan’ has grown exponentially over the years as it introduces viewers in a three-state region to the many wonders of the Great Lakes state,” said Ken Kolbe, general manager of WCMU Public Media. “The rich storytelling and splendid videography in each episode of ‘Destination Michigan’ brings the vibrancy of the people and places in Michigan to life like few programs can.”

“Destination Michigan’s” team includes executive producer Chris Ogozaly, host Matt Ozanich, segment producers Stefanie Mills and Steven Smith, and videographer Adam Miedema. The show is in its ninth season of production.

Earlier this year, WCMU Public Television was honored with a Best in Cultural Programming Broadcast Excellence award from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for “Destination Michigan.” The MAB awards allow stations from across the state to compete against a standard of excellence in various categories designed to showcase the best materials produced by Michigan broadcasters.
