The executive assistant to the president manages and provides leadership for the inner office functions of the Office of the President and is also responsible for supervision of the affirmative action/Title IX and ombudsperson functions of the university. The position coordinates activities of the president's cabinet and ensures exceptional communication among members of the senior leadership team consistent with a strategic focus on accomplishing presidential goals. The position also is a primary liaison with members of the Board of Trustees and supervises the preparation of board meetings and materials. Commencement and major events, scheduling and logistics, correspondence, and policy implementation are all overseen by the executive assistant, who supervises the office team.

The schedule coordinator manages the president's schedule by coordinating both internal and external meetings, appearances and travel.  She compiles, procures and organizes materials for meetings and speaking engagements. She is also an initial point of contact for the office and manages most presidential correspondence. The schedule coordinator is also responsible for performing a variety of other support tasks for the office.

The Ombudsperson, or 'Ombuds', assists all students as they pursue the resolution of questions, concerns or challenges related to any part of the university in a private, impartial, independent and informal manner. The Ombuds listens to students without judgement, offering relevant information and connecting students with university resources and services. The Ombuds works to open avenues of communication while promoting collaboration and creativity in conflict resolution. Because of the independent nature of the position, the Ombuds is both apart and within the university and thereby able to credibly recommend policies, processes and procedures for review.

Ceremonies and Events Coordinator

The ceremonies and events coordinator plans, directs and coordinates all activities associated with commencement ceremonies hosted by CMU, in addition to other major events sponsored by the president's office. The ceremonies and events coordinator chairs the commencement committee and arranges for speakers, marshals, facilities, and all other logistics related to these events. The position also coordinates communication regarding commencement and other events to students, faculty, staff and other appropriate parties. She also is responsible for updates and maintenance of the office's web presence.

The administrative coordinator provides primary administrative support for the executive assistant to the president and secretary to the board of trustees and is responsible for budgetary support duties and account reconciliations.  She also supervises the student employees in the office. The administrative coordinator is also responsible for performing a variety of other support tasks for the office.
