Has the spring 2020 commencement ceremony been rescheduled?

Spring commencement ceremonies have been rescheduled for the weekend of August 15, 2020. We are working to determine ceremony times for each degree. Graduates will receive additional information via email soon, and this page will be updated as new information becomes available.

I expect to complete my degree in August. Which ceremony do I attend?

August graduates have historically participated in the December commencement ceremony. However, this year, August graduates are offered the option to participate in the rescheduled spring commencement ceremony the weekend of August 15.

I have already purchased my cap and gown. What are my options?

Bachelors and Master’s Graduates

If you plan to participate in the commencement ceremony when it is rescheduled, please keep your cap and gown until that time. Graduates who are interested in a refund should contact the CMU Bookstore.

Doctoral Graduates

Shipment of doctoral regalia has been postponed. Additional information regarding doctoral orders will be provided as soon as possible.

Since the commencement ceremony is postponed, will I still graduate and receive my diploma?

Yes. The Registrar's Office will still award degrees at the end of the semester once all final grades are posted. Diplomas and transcripts will be mailed beginning in May.
