If you complete the Office of Study Abroad Scholarship application, you will automatically be considered for the following scholarships. 

Bud Fisher and Fisher Companies Study Abroad Scholarship

Thanks to a generous donation by Bud Fisher and Fisher Companies, the Office of Study Abroad is able to award two scholarships each semester to students participating in approved study abroad programs. Award amounts vary each semester. Applicant must:

  • be a full-time CMU student
  • have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • be studying a language as part of the study abroad program.
Students who complete for the Office of Study Abroad Scholarship application and meet the eligibility requirements will automatically be considered for this scholarship.

Stanley and Madalin Vihtelic Study Abroad Scholarship

Thanks to a generous donation by Stanley and Madalin Vihtelic, the Office of Study Abroad is able to award two scholarships each semester to students participating in approved study abroad programs. To qualify, applicant must:

  • be a full-time CMU student,
  • meet the minimum GPA requirements (3.0 for undergraduate students; 3.2 for graduate students),
  • be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Students who complete the Office of Study Abroad Scholarship application and meet the eligibility requirements will automatically be considered for this scholarship.


Program-Specific Study Abroad Scholarships

Japan Center for Michigan Universities (JCMU) Scholarship 

CMU students are eligible for the JCMU Consortium Scholarship. CMU students who study at JCMU will be awarded $1,900 a semester during the academic year and $2,000 for the Summer Session. More information about the scholarship and other scholarships for JCMU’s programs is available at www.isp.msu.edu/JCMU/.

This scholarship is awarded to all CMU students accepted to participate in the JCMU program.

Midwest Consortium for Study Abroad (MCSA) Scholarship

Each year CMU can award two $200 scholarships to students participating in a MCSA program. Awards are based on the student's GPA, financial need, and essay. 

Students who complete the Office of Study Abroad Scholarship application and meet the eligibility requirements will automatically be considered for this scholarship.

AHA International Scholarship

AHA International sponsors two $500 scholarships per academic year for students participating in the following programs: MCSA Vienna, MCSA Austria, MCSA Segovia. Awards are based on the student's GPA, financial need, and essay.

Students who complete the Office of Study Abroad Scholarship application and meet the eligibility requirements will automatically be considered for this scholarship.

Edge Hill University

CMU students who study abroad at Edge Hill University automatically receive a scholarship from Edge Hill. Semester participants receive a $400 scholarship and students participating in an academic year at Edge Hill receive $800.

This scholarship is awarded to all CMU students who participate in the Edge Hill University program.

Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS) Scholarship

CMU students who study abroad at DIS automatically receive a scholarship from DIS. Semester participants receive a $4,000 scholarship and students participating in the summer program receive $250 (per three-week session).

This scholarship is awarded to all CMU students who participate in the DIS program.

Korea University, Sejong Campus Scholarship

Each semester Korea University, Sejong (KU-Sejong) awards scholarships for two CMU students to study at their university. Students pay l2 credits of CMU tuition and receive a generous scholarship from KU-Sejong to cover airfare, room and partial board.
