CMU is joining forces with Microsoft to help younger students, regardless of gender, explore future education and careers within the technology and leadership fields.
CMU staff will be traveling to the Microsoft Detroit Office to assist in mentoring 100 Detroit Middle and High School students that are part of the CMU Trio Detroit Programs.
CMU Trio Detroit Programs support and encourage promising students to prepare for successful college careers.
Activities planned during this workshop include:
Like speed dating but mentoring! Mentors spend 10 minutes with a small group talking about their STEM career and what drove them there, and then switch groups.
The BrainPad provides an intuitive STEM/STEAM learning experience by providing students with an interactive engagement (minds-on and hands-on) in the classroom. The BrainPad increases student interest in learning Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics.
Keynote speaker: Jillian Blackwell
Jillian began her love for business and entrepreneurship when she started a paper route in Detroit, MI. She now has over 20 plus years of professional business development and marketing experience with Xerox, AT&T and Saatchi & Saatchi in Europe.
She is currently a Sr. Services Executive for Microsoft Department of Defense (DoD) helping the United States Navy and Army with their digital transformation. In addition, Jillian also as affiliations with:
