Team Site Upgrades
5:00 p.m. – 12/16/2012 11:59 p.m.
Description: CMU’s Team Sites will
be upgraded from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010. This brings a number of new features and
improved features, including and improved interface, better interoperability
with Microsoft Office for Windows and Macs, and the introduction of social
tagging features. During the upgrade,
Team Sites will be unavailable. This
maintenance will conclude as soon as possible, but please expect a service
outage for the duration of the weekend.
12/19/2012 10:00 p.m. – 12/20/2012 6:00 a.m.
Description: Includes upgrades to
the network registration system and other networking equipment. If you are on campus during this time, please
expect sporadic network outages. This
time has been chosen because of minimal personnel presence on campus.
Blackboard – Annual Course Purge
12/24/2012 – 1/1/2013
Description: This maintenance occurs
each year and removes old course shells from our production Blackboard
environment, improving response time and overall system performance for all
Blackboard users. Blackboard
will be unavailable for the duration of this process.
ImageNow Health Check Improvements
12/24/2012 – 1/2/2013
Description: Includes several minor
adjustments as recommended by our vendor.
This is phase I of these adjustments.
This work will be contained within the university closure, but ImageNow
service will be mostly available during this extended maintenance window. If you plan to use ImageNow during this time,
however, please expect the possibility of sporadic service outages as services
are intermittently restarted.
Exchange – Service Pack Update and Elimination of Public Folders
1/2/2013 3:00 a.m. – 1/2/2013 7:00 a.m.
Description: Note that this
maintenance occurs prior to the start of business on the morning that the
university reopens. CMU’s faculty/staff
email system will receive a Service Pack update to provide security patches and
pave the way for testing Office 365.
Public Folders will also be eliminated. Note that this does not affect personal folders.
If you use Outlook 2003, this update
will result in your inability to view free/busy information and to use the
offline address book. If you currently
use Outlook 2003, please upgrade your Microsoft Office installation as soon as
possible. For university-owned
computers, please check
the Software Center for the latest available version of Microsoft Office or
contact the OIT Help Desk at 989.774.3662 to request assistance.
