Training

Supervisors – please review the list of trainings below and determine training requirements for workers in your lab.  Fill out the training form in Appendix I of the Chemical Hygiene Plan and submit to Foust 104 or labfieldsafety@cmich.edu .  If you have questions on applicability, please call the Office of Laboratory and Field Safety, 774-4474, for assistance.  First-time Usersplease SELF-ENROLL in the training platform.  You will have access to all of the safety courses once you self-enroll.  Returning Users- click on any of the training titles below to launch the training course.

Aerosol Transmissible Disease Training 

​​Required for individuals who work in a BSL3 environment. Note: This is a classroom training. The exam can be completed in Blackboard once the classroom training is completed.

Biosafety Awareness Training

​Required for individuals who work in a BSL2 environment, but who do not work with BSL2 agents.​Initial Training and retraining as necessary
Bloodborne Pathogens Training

Required for individuals with exposure to sharps, blood, and other potentially infectious material. Meets the training requirements of MIOSHA Part 554.

​Chemical Spill Response and Cleanup Training​Required for individuals with responsibility for cleaning up incidental chemical spills.​Initial training and retraining as necessary
Flame Resistant Glove TrainingRequired for all individuals who wear flame resistant gloves.​​​Initial training and retraining as necessary
Flame Resistant Lab Coat TrainingRequired for Individuals who wear flame resistant lab coats​.​Initial training and retraining as necessary
Hazard Communication/Global Harmonized SystemRequired for non-laboratory workers who work with chemicals. Meets the Training requirements of MIOSHA Part 430. ​​Annually
Lab Safety Training​Required for individuals who work with hazardous chemicals in a laboratory setting. Meets the training requirements of MIOSHA Part 431.​Initial training, then "Lab Safety Refresher Training" annually
​Lab Safety Refresher Training​Required for individuals who work with hazardous chemicals in a laboratory setting. Meets the training requirements of MIOSHA Part 431.​Annually
Laser Safety Training
Required for individuals  who operate Class 3B or 4 lasers​

Liquid Nitrogen Safety Training​Required for individuals who use liquid nitrogen.​Initial training and retraining as necessary
Radiation Awareness Training​Required for individuals who do not work with radioisotopes, but who work near radioisotope use and need to be aware of the potential hazards.​Initial training and retraining as necessary
Radiation Safety Refresher TrainingRequired for individuals who work with radioisotopes.​​Annually
Radiation Safety Training-Bone DensitometerRequired for individuals who operate the DXA bone densitometer.​Annually​
