Faculty Awards

Central Michigan University has a long and proud tradition of excellence in teaching. The faculty of Central Michigan University have maintained this tradition by setting high standards in demanding competence of all its members.

At the same time, however, there are occasions when faculty members exceed the usual standards and expectations. The Academic Senate believes that such occasions and such individuals should receive special recognition and is therefore establishing the Excellence in Teaching Award.

The purpose of the PROVOST'S ASSESSMENT INCENTIVE AWARD is to encourage departments and councils to use assessment data for program improvement. Departments or interdisciplinary councils that clearly demonstrate how they used assessment data to improve an academic program or student success may apply for a $5,000 incentive provided by the provost which will be matched by the appropriate dean's office. This commitment from the Provost is for $5,000 awarded to a maximum of 5 departments or interdisciplinary councils each year for 3 years (2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2013-2014).
