The Executive Vice President/Provost is the chief academic officer of the university.

Working closely with the President, and the leaders in the academic division, it is my role to help provide an excellent education to our students, both undergraduate and graduate, to promote faculty and student research and creative activities, and to provide service to the community—local and beyond.

CMU’s objective is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and values that will prepare them to be successful once they leave our university. In addition to providing high quality instruction to students in formal classes, both in person and online, the academic division, along with other units in the university, provides many learning experiences outside the classroom.

Active learning is encouraged as exemplified by the many students who engage in internships, service learning opportunities, research projects, study abroad, and participation in student organizations and leadership opportunities. CMU also offers opportunities for students to experience and learn about living in a diverse world through classes, programming, and by providing opportunities to interact with others of diverse backgrounds.

Colleges that report to the provost are Business Administration, Arts and Media, Education and Human Services, Health Professions, Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, and the College of Medicine.

Additional units in the academic division reporting to the provost also play a critical role in the success of our students and faculty. These include: Academic Administration, Academic  Affairs, Information Technology, Libraries,  and Office of Research and Graduate Studies.

Please take the time to browse through Central Michigan University’s website. The academic division has web pages that are informative, insightful, and will answer many of your questions.
