Introduction

Case studies are a favorite active learning strategy of students because they are “real world” scenarios where students have to struggle with a particular scenario. A strong case study has no right or wrong answer, requires students to compile several pieces of evidence, and then make a determination using all the available evidence in front of them. Case studies naturally lead into very powerful discussions and can also take on a more quantitative approach by using tools such as a decision matrix.
