State-of-the-art instructional and student technology labs equipped with Mac and PC workstations, printers, and scanners are strategically located throughout the campus to provide easy access for students and faculty with valid CHIP cards and Global IDs. Many instructional student labs operate extended daily hours and weekends.
General Use Campus Computer Labs
The two largest public lab locations on campus provide an academic-friendly environment for all CMU students to conduct research, complete homework assignments, and carry out electronic communication. Additionally, the Virtual Lab offers access to specialized software from your personal computer.
CBA and OIT have collaborated to provide the Virtual Lab service. Accessible anywhere, this virtual desktop allows access to specialized software, your UDrive, and printing through the PrintQ service. Check the configuration instructions to access the Virtual Lab from your personal computer!
The PrintQ service supports CMU's sustainability goals by promoting responsible, thoughtful printing. Undergraduate and graduate students that are registered for classes are granted PrintQ allocation at the start of each semester, and use this allocation to print documents for academic and personal use. PrintQ Printers and Kiosks are located throughout campus, including the Ronan and Woldt Campus Computing Labs, Park Library, the UC, and other academic and residential buildings. Additionally, it is possible to upload and print documents from your personal computer, either directly to a Kiosk or from the Virtual Lab!
College/Department Computer Labs
Specialized computer labs are available across campus to serve a variety of needs and support more than 200 undergraduate and graduate academic programs. For more specific information about these lab locations, check the list in the right-hand navigation menu.
