As a member of CMU's faculty or staff, you'll have access to numerous technology services and perks available to employees, plus all the technical support you need in order to use them effectively. CMU's Office of Information Technology is committed to providing the best technology services and support you'll find in higher education, which in turn helps ensure that you're able to provide the best experience possible for CMU students.

Training and documentation

OIT provides real-time training opportunities for many commonly used technologies at CMU, but we also take a lot of pride in our expansive collection of self-paced training materials and comprehensive catalog of knowledge base content. Whether you learn best with hands-on guidance or prefer to teach yourself, we've got you covered with the materials you need to succeed.

Technical support

If your computer just doesn't want to play nice, or if you run into issues with any of CMU's online services, the OIT Help Desk is here to provide the tech support you need to get back up and running. Software packages

Most CMU employees are eligible to download and install Microsoft Office products on their personal computers, and all CMU employees are able to use the full suite of cloud-based Office Web Apps from any computer with a web browser. Paired with 1TB of online storage through OneDrive, you can be sure that your projects and materials are available to you wherever you go. As part of an Adobe Creative Campus, CMU employees can also get access to the full Adobe Creative Suite to use for work and teaching purposes. On top of those, CMU provides access to numerous high-quality software packages that support teaching, research, productivity, and data analysis.

Academic and research IT support

OIT supports technologies related to teaching and research, providing access to the resources and information you need to be successful in the classroom, the lab, or out in the field. We can help identify the most appropriate software, review technical aspects of grants/contracts, or just help you find the best place to start with identifying your research needs. Our extensive experience can help eliminate the technology barriers between you and your project, no matter how unique it may be.

Discounted cellular plans

All CMU faculty, staff, students, and alumni are eligible to sign up for service through OIT's Cellular Services office, with plans available for AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. In most cases, you'll save money compared to the equivalent plans found at these providers' retail outlets. All transactions are handled by our staff right here at CMU, so you know you're working with a real person who has your best interest in mind.
