As a CMU student, you'll have access to numerous technology services and perks, plus all the technical support you need in order to use them effectively. CMU's Office of Information Technology is committed to providing the best technology services and support you can find in a university environment to ensure that every student has what they need to achieve success.
Technical support
If your computer just doesn't want to play nice, or if you run into issues with any of CMU's online services, the OIT Help Desk is here to provide the tech support you need to get back up and running. Software packages
All CMU students are eligible to install the full Microsoft Office suite on multiple computers and mobile devices, so you can do your homework or work on class projects from anywhere, whether you're on campus or back home for the weekend. Paired with 1TB of online storage through OneDrive, you can be sure that all of your files are available wherever you go. Plus, with access to Office Web Apps through any web browser, you can work on that term paper when inspiration strikes--no need to take the time to install any software.
As part of an Adobe Creative Campus, CMU students automatically have access to the full Adobe Creative Suite and plenty of Adobe Cloud storage to save their work. Whether you're interested in using it for class, practicing your design skills, or editing videos for social media, you'll have some of the most powerful design tools available at your disposal.
Documentation and self-help
You can always contact the Help Desk to receive real-time technical support, but we also take a lot of pride in our comprehensive catalog of knowledge base content. If you're the kind of person who likes to handle your own IT support, you can find detailed configuration instructions, FAQs, and how-to articles in our online KB.
Discounted cellular plans
All CMU students are eligible to sign up for service through OIT's Cellular Services office, with plans available for AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. In most cases, you'll save money compared to the equivalent plans found at these providers' retail outlets. All transactions are handled by our staff right here at CMU, so you know you're working with a real person who has your best interest in mind. We're able to offer this service by leveraging our large subscriber base to keep costs low--no gimmicks or downsides.

High-speed internet
Every building on CMU's campus has access to high speed Wi-Fi, so you can access your favorite video streaming services in high quality when you need a break from schoolwork. CMU even provides access to both live and on-demand television programming through SpectrumU, which is available on most smart TVs and mobile devices, so you can relax and kill time between classes no matter where you are. If you're a gamer living on campus, you can download games and large updates in no time at all, then get right back into the action with your squad.
