CMU president and first lady to serve as lighted parade grand marshals

Downtown Mount Pleasant hosts annual Christmas festival Dec. 2 and 3

November 22, 2016

The lighted parade — a tradition of the annual Mount Pleasant Christmas Celebration — will shine with maroon and gold this year as Central Michigan University President George E. Ross and First Lady Elizabeth Ross serve as grand marshals.

The annual celebration is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3, in Downtown Mount Pleasant. Visitors can participate in a variety of events, including a community sing, a tree-lighting ceremony, visits with Santa, a 5K run and a pancake breakfast with Santa. The lighted parade is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.

Downtown Mount Pleasant development director Michelle Sponseller said the parade is open to anyone interested in participating and invites students, faculty and staff groups to be a part of the community event.

Those interested in participating in the parade must fill out an application. The deadline to enter is Dec. 1.
