Hinck named CCFA interim dean

Provost Michael Gealt has appointed Shelly Hinck, associate dean of the College of Communication and Fine Arts, interim CCFA dean. The appointment is effective Aug. 1.

Hinck will replace Salma Ghanem, CCFA dean, while a national search is conducted for a permanent replacement. Ghanem has resigned to become dean of the College of Communication at DePaul University.

Hinck joined CMU as a faculty member in 1988 and became the CCFA associate dean in 2010. Prior to coming to CMU, she served as an instructor at California State University, Fullerton.

Her base salary with a wage adjustment for higher classification pay will total $149,000 annually.
