Central Michigan University names two interim associate vice presidents

Weston to lead athletics, Guinn to lead institutional diversity

Marcy Weston named interim AVP and director of athletics

CMU President George E. Ross has named former CMU executive associate athletics director Marcy Weston interim associate vice president and director of athletics.

Weston will replace Dave Heeke, who recently announced his resignation from CMU to become vice president for athletics at the University of Arizona.

Weston's 42-year career at CMU began as a physical education instructor and field hockey coach in 1972. Throughout her career, she also coached two other women's sports at CMU: basketball and volleyball. She served as the university's senior associate athletics director and, from 2012 to 2015, as the executive associate director of athletics/sport administration. She retired in 2015.

Weston's position is effective April 3.

Traci Guinn named interim AVP for institutional diversity

Traci Guinn has been named interim AVP for institutional diversity. She has replaced Carolyn Dunn, who left the university March 6. Dunn served in the role since March 2014.

Guinn, executive director for CMU's Center for Inclusion and Diversity and director of Multicultural Academic Student Services, served as interim AVP for institutional diversity from November 2010 to February 2011 and then again from August 2012 to March 2014. She began her career at CMU in 1998 as associate director of admissions.

Guinn holds both a master's degree and a doctorate in education from CMU.

Details about the search processes for these two positions are still in development.
