Shared Governance and Communications Committee update its accomplishments

The Shared Governance and Communications Committee, created by President Ross and the Academic Senate, has been meeting since December 2013. The group has submitted a report highlighting its accomplishments over the last semester.

Highlights in the report include:

  1. Formation and work of the Budget Priorities Committee
  2. Increased transparency of the university budget
  3. Improved web and email communication including updates on senior officer searches and president and provost reports to the Academic Senate
  4. Implementation of senior officer evaluations

The SGCC also is recommending the following areas be priorities in the year ahead:

  1. Continue to examine and make recommendations for fixed-term faculty inclusion in the Academic Senate
  2. Continue to follow and communicate about senior officer evaluations, including recommending that the evaluations be generated with "bottom-up" input
  3. Revisit and explore recommendations from outside consultants about more socialization opportunities (or a university club or dining commons)
