Biography

Alan is a serial tech entrepreneur who balances engineering and operations with marketing, sales, and business development.  His most recent company, Open Broadband, LLC, brings internet broadband service to underserved communities.  In addition to founding and leading new ventures, Alan has served as COO, Global VP, SVP of Engineering, Head of Marketing, Head of Business Development, and advisor to several SaaS, Data Analytics, and other tech companies.  

He currently resides in the Charlotte, NC area – where he has supported the Big Data & Analytics Society in Charlotte, and served on the Board of the Society of Information Management (SIM) for Marketing of the Charlotte Chapter.  Additional roles included working as a Marketing consultant for Carolina Premier Bank and the TechWorks Gaston innovation center.  He also leads the marketing of the gigabit internet infrastructure in Charlotte, through Charlotte Hearts Gigabit and NC Hearts Gigabit, a project of NC Boradband Matters (a 501(c)(3)), and Alan has been a featured speaker at the Gigabit City Summit, Gigabit Cities Live, and CLIC-NC meetings and conferences.  He has also won several prestigious startup competitions including the NC Idea Grant, the Charlotte Venture Challenge, and the TiE Velocity Program.

He earned his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and his MBA from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management.
