Biography

Mark Taylor has over 50 years’ experience leading health care organizations.  In his work, he has focused on developing physician-provider networks to better manage the health of regional populations, strategically repositioning health care organizations to meet the changing demands of the health care markets, implementing systematic performance improvement, and integrating value systems across large, complex health care organizations.  In his nearly 35 years, Dr. Taylor served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of several of its regional health care systems, as well as the founding President of the Covenant Physician Hospital Organization.

During his career, Dr. Taylor has operationalized a state-wide, clinically integrated accountable care organization with seven other regional health systems, developed one of the original CMS Pioneer Accountable Care Organizations, developed a population-based care model covering 200,000 enrollees, including 25,000 uninsured individuals, and initiated multiple physician co-management companies.  His various organizations have been recognized by the Institute of Healthcare Improvement as a best-in-class performer in its Triple Aim initiative, a Solucient Top 100 Hospital, and a recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

Dr. Taylor also has an extensive background in education, having taught courses in health care finance and organizational development/human resources for over twelve years at Central Michigan University and other academic institutions.  Dr. Taylor currently serves as the Director of Graduate Healthcare Administration Programs at Central Michigan University.

Dr. Taylor is an avid history and Civil War buff.  He also enjoys hiking, horseback riding, and music.  He is married to Beth Taylor, a CMU Doctor of Health Administration alumna.  Together they have three grown children and three grandsons.
