Why This Program & What You'll Learn
Society needs well-informed and engaged leaders and citizens. Our graduate certificate in citizen engagement gives you the tools to address that need. You’ll learn techniques for motivating others to get involved, and put those methods to the test. And you'll prepare to participate in the democratic process as a voter, an advocate or an elected official.
The program consists of two required courses and a practicum in citizen engagement. You’ll also choose two electives in one of three specialization areas: public opinion polling, elected institutions and processes, or appointed institutions and processes.
You’ll graduate with a deep understanding of participatory democracy and the ability to improve your civic institutions.
