“When people hear CMU they instantly think about the strong sense of leadership on campus. It is a very intimate campus, and it is easy to get involved in those opportunities. I feel like I have developed a really genuine connection with the university.”
“I never imagined myself going Greek when I came in as a freshman. It has been a life-changing experience and one of the best experiences of my life. What I like most about Greek life is that it challenges me to step outside my comfort zone. I am happy that CMU allowed me to feel courageous enough to jump into something different.”
“I went on a diversity-focused Alternative Break to Immokalee, Florida, and it was such a liberating experience because of the other students on my break. This group of people gave me something I needed, without even knowing I was looking for it. It is hard to put it into words, but being around people who see the best in you is really inspiring. College is about self-discovery, and I discovered more about who I am and who I want to be because of those people and because of that break.”
“Stepping outside my comfort zone was really difficult for me when I came to college, but when I got here I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to get involved in order to be around people who were going to help craft my personality. You are the only person who can stop yourself from achieving your goals, so it is important to look within and find the courage to break free from those restraints.”
“Be patient with yourself and do not subconsciously compare your experiences with those of the people around you. Do what you feel best works for you and feels comfortable. College is a big transition so trust your instincts enough to know that it will all work out.”
