“After completing necessary course work, my dream of traveling to Japan became a reality when I was able to study abroad in Japan. I never thought in a million years I would be able to study abroad. I had my doubts about going, but it changed my view on the world and on what I want to do with my life.”
“There is no reason someone should feel uncomfortable on this campus. There is a place for everyone. Find people who really relate to you. Don’t be afraid to ask questions – even if they are weird. Chances are there will be people like you who have similar interests.”
“I plan on living and working in Japan as an English teacher or as an ambassador to the U.S. within a Japanese company. I will always try to work in an environment that encourages cultural education and sharing.

“I don’t want to be rich and famous. What I really want to do is be able to let people know it is possible to do and go where you want, no matter where in the world that might be.”
“Finances and not having a car have been my biggest college challenges. Always having a backup plan is crucial. The sooner you know what you want to do, the sooner you can adjust for it. Find the resources that are able to help you financially, such as CMU’s Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, and ask a lot of questions.”
“The CMU staff as a whole is what I love most about CMU. Without them I wouldn’t have been able to do what I’ve done. Karen Arthur, director of business student services in the College of Business Administration, is the person on campus who has influenced me the most. She has helped me since day one and the support she’s given me has been priceless.

“There are people willing to help you go places, you can’t beat that.”
