“I love the fact that I can drive 2 ½ hours away from my house in Sterling Heights and still feel like I’m at home. The people here, be it faculty or students, are so welcoming and everyone embraces diversity so much.”
“I’d like to attend graduate school for student affairs and become a resident hall director at a university at some point. Bo Parker, my resident hall director from Sweeney, has definitely helped me to step outside of my comfort zone and become a better person. He has taught me to try new things and take risks. If it weren’t for him and the positive impact he has had on my life, I don’t think I would have applied to be a RA.”
“I don’t think I would be able to be a resident assistant anywhere else. It’s because of the experiences I have had at CMU with my resident assistant’s that have enabled me to see this is something I’m capable of doing. I am capable of being a positive influence and changing people’s lives.”
“If I could offer a piece of advice to incoming freshmen it would be to remember it’s OK to try new things and be afraid when you do so. Stay optimistic because today is the best day to look forward to a better tomorrow.”
“If I could spend the rest of my life doing anything, it sounds cliché, but I would spend it traveling. You can’t live the same year, 70 some odd times and call it a life. I want to try new things, go new places, and learn about new people and how they are living their lives.”
