Cassidy spends her free time drawing on wood with a heated point, otherwise known as wood burning.

Cassidy Lahr didn't waste any time finding where she fit in at CMU.

The transfer student was enticed to make the change in part because of her friendly and welcoming campus visit. Since coming to Central, she said, she's found a passionate and engaged community of fellow CMU Chippewas.

She especially found her home in the graphic design program and in her job as a student designer for Media Graphix, Central's on-campus graphic design firm.

"Working at Media Graphix has helped me to expand my portfolio, network with other student designers and build client relationships," said Cassidy. She is looking forward to building a career with the skills she's learning day to day.

In her role at Media Graphix, Cassidy works with on- and off-campus entities to create various design pieces.

"The student designers work with CMU departments, students and various other clients to design materials like flyers, posters, banners, postcards and more."

All of it is helping her gain real-life work and client experience as well as building her design portfolio to showcase after graduation.

Her advice to future CMU students?

"Don't worry too much about your future and focus on now. Just live in the moment and know that great things are yet to come."
