Student Programs with Community Partners

We are proud to partner with the Science Discovery Center at the University of Colorado, Boulder on a growing project. Build a Better Book is an initiative connected with libraries and makerspaces across the country. Middle and high school students create accessible picture books for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. The Center is proud to join this project. This year we'll be engaging you in this program is two ways: 

  • One-time family events: look for regular family events that will give you a taste of what it means to be a part of Build a Better Book!
  • A long-term book-making workshop: coming in early 2021, we will be working with students to build better books for those who are blind or visually impaired. 

Build a Better Book:  3D Giving Day Events 

In partnership with CRDL: December 3rd 7:00 - 8:00 pm 
In partnership with BCLS: December 7th  4:30 - 5:30 pm   

Cost: FREE 

Do you enjoy hands-on activities? Are you interested in helping others? Join us in an upcoming online workshop where you can do both!

Together with regional libraries, we are planning two opportunities for YOU to join in creating tactile graphics for 3D Giving Day 2020! As part of the Build a Better Book (BBB) network, we are eager to raise awareness not only about blindness and visual impairments, but also about ways makers can apply their skills through meaningful experiences. As a result of these workshops, we would like to donate children’s books with 3D printed tactile graphics to the participating libraries.
