Inclement Weather Policy

Program events may be altered at the discretion of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to ensure the safety of our campus visitors and tour guides.

The campus walking tour will be replaced with a virtual tour presentation and a student panel discussion under the following conditions:

• Thunder/lightning
• Extreme cold
• Tornado watch/warning
• Other severe or dangerous weather conditions

During this alternative presentation, you'll still get to see the campus (virtually) from the eyes of a current student. Our student Campus Ambassadors will be there to answer your questions and discuss their experiences as CMU Chippewas. 

Please note, visits will not be altered by non-threatening conditions and occasionally take place in rain and uncomfortable temperatures. Please dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if necessary.

Campus closures

In the rare instance when CMU experiences a weather-related campus closure, all admissions programs and tours will be canceled.
