Personal Hobbies/Interests: I like to play golf, visit local breweries and am all about Chicago sports.
Favorite Things to do around Michigan: I’m still exploring so check back in a few months.

Lindsay Davis, DO

Why did you choose CMU: It’s an established program with a proven track record of producing high-quality physicians. This reputation allows me to work wherever I want after residency, knowing I have solid training under my belt. It also allowed me to stay in Michigan for at least another 3 years and experience all it had to offer.
Personal Hobbies/Interests: Shooting, weightlifting, hiking, video games.
Favorite Things to do around Michigan: Hiking in the UP and the Leelanau Peninsula, driving the Tunnel of Trees in Harbor Springs, hiking Isle Royale, and snowmobiling across Lake Huron and Lake Superior.

Stephen Holihan, MD

Medical School: Michigan State University College of Human Medicine
Professional Career Interests: Working in a community emergency department, providing quality care to underserved and rural populations, and growing my proficiency with point-of-care ultrasound.
Why did you choose CMU: I was immediately drawn to the CMU program for the opportunity it gave me to serve and learn from and in my home community of Saginaw during residency. The chance to not only train in the town I grew up in, but also to gain experience serving its diverse patient population, was very appealing to me. Another thing I valued was CMU’s excellent simulation center.
Personal Hobbies/Interests: Lifting weights, church and bible study, coffee, and spending time with family and friends.
Favorite Things to do around Michigan: Spending time on Lake Huron, trips to Mackinac Island and Petoskey, and hanging out in my favorite coffee shops.

Caleb Morris, DO

Professional Career Interests: Airway management, prehospital medicine, and paramedic education.
Why did you choose CMU: I wanted the best exposure to high acuity urban and rural populations to ensure I would be ready for practice and I'm interested in an EMS fellowship; CMU offers both and has a very tight knit residency.
Personal Hobbies/Interests: Marksmanship, bourbon tasting, games, and anything outdoors in nature
Favorite Things to do around Michigan:  So far, visit the beaches. I'm hoping to venture into the north more during residency.

Andrew Namespetra, MD

Medical School: Univ Cork College, Ireland
Professional Career Interests: I have an interest in academic emergency medicine and plan to incorporate teaching, quality improvement, and research into my professional career as an EM Physician. 
Why did you choose CMU: 1. The EM residency program has all the aspects that were the highest priority for me: a passionate and engaging faculty, high acuity, high volume, and unopposed access to procedures. 2. The people: Dr. Cowling and the faculty have built an outstanding didactic and simulation program and are committed to our learning. My co-residents are super supportive and truly create family atmosphere.  3. The location: I am from Southwestern Ontario, so it was important for me to stay close to home.
Personal Hobbies/Interests: Competitive swimming, CrossFit, weight-lifting, cycling, tennis, hiking, traveling the world, visiting friends and family at home in Canada.
Favorite Things to do around Michigan: Saginaw Valley Rail Trail for cycling and running, Mackinac Island, fishing on Saginaw Bay, ATV at St. Helen, golfing, visiting Detroit (DIA, the Red Wings, concerts), and hanging out with my co-residents.

Professional Career Interests: Wilderness/Austere Medicine, Rural Medicine, Military Medicine, Medical Simulation.
Why did you choose CMU: CMU offers a small town feel with pathology and acuity that is typically found in bigger cities. Our catchment area is huge and we have plenty of opportunities to see sick patients and perform procedures.
Personal Hobbies/Interests: CrossFit, Motor Sports and telling terrible dad jokes.
Favorite Things to do around Michigan: From finding new ATV trails in the summer to skiing in the winter, Michigan has something for everyone.

"Virtually unopposed program" giving EM residents the ability to perform lots of bedside procedures. State of the art simulation training center. Excellent work environment between residents and attending physicians.
Personal Hobbies/Interests: Mountain biking, hiking, coaching track and field throwing events, crafting, establishing tropical freshwater aquariums, and collecting houseplants.

Why did you choose CMU: I am very fortunate to be here at CMU! You lead the department and set the tone of each patient encounter. The pathology you see here is second to none. You are part of the family on day one. It’s an opportunity to be taught by world-class and internationally known emergency medicine educators. Your procedures are unopposed, and that’s a huge plus!
Personal Hobbies/Interests: Spending time with my daughter, PC Games (CS:GO, WoW), Watching all sports, and coffee!
Favorite Things to do around Michigan: Looking forward to more exploring, but so far I have enjoyed Frankenmuth, Bronner's Christmas Store and catching a Tiger's game at Comerica Park.

Why did you choose CMU: CMU in Saginaw works with a diverse population while also offering a higher level of acuity that you may not get in many other cities. CMU offers a lot of supplemental learning opportunities like the simulation lab.

Favorite Things to do around Michigan: I love to travel up north to Traverse City to enjoy the beautiful scenery as well as the many wineries up on Old Mission Peninsula.

Ana Camagay, MD

Medical School: American University of the Caribbean
Professional Career Interests: I would love to participate in disaster relief as a physician because it merges most of my interests international EM, disaster and austere medicine. I also have interests in clinical education, simulation, and social determinants of health.
Why did you choose CMU: I was drawn to CMU's EM program because its an established program with notable faculty members, unopposed procedures, and well-founded hands-on didactic curriculum. I also felt very comfortable during the interview... many people would say "it had good vibes" and they aren't wrong. The Simulation Center is also massive draw because we get to learn, play, and teach in this environment.
Personal Hobbies/Interests: Surf, skate, food and drinks, photography, and travel.
Favorite Things to do around Michigan: I've learned to enjoy blueberry picking so I'm excited to see what the surrounding family owned farms will offer throughout the seasons! I went sandboarding with my co-residents and it was awfully fun, so they'll take me snowboarding in the near future.

Why did you choose CMU: To gain the best learning experience to become an excellent Emergency Medicine Physician.
Personal Hobbies/Interests: Singing, going to the park, biking, spending time with friends, trying new foods, and watching television.

Rural and inner-city populations are both well represented so you'll come across all swathes of pathology. Tack on the absolutely phenomenal faculty, CMU was just the perfect fit, and I hope it is for you too!
Personal Hobbies/Interests: Anything outdoors near water, gardening, and eating my body weight in crepes.
Favorite Things to do around Michigan: As a Traverse City native, I love heading home to the unbelievable beaches, parks, and snagging the BEST ice-cream from Moomers. Just google "northern Michigan water", the images speak for themselves. Living in Saginaw, everything in the lower peninsula can be accessed within 3hrs or less! So grab a swimsuit, a case of Bell's, and enjoy this beautiful state!

Why did you choose CMU: EM program at CMU is top tier. Unparalleled nature of this program was really appealing to me, which means that the EM residents will be running the trauma case. For the few months that I have been at CMU, I have really enjoyed my time! I also have family in Saginaw, which made it a perfect fit for me.
Personal Hobbies/Interests: Basketball, weight lifting. I like to go on trails, especially the ones that surround a water body. 
Favorite Things to do around Michigan: Exploring new trails and lakes, trying new food and not getting stuck in traffic!

Why did you choose CMU: I was very fortunate and got the opportunity to visit the sim center before interview season, fell in love with the program during the pre-interview social and knew this is where I wanted to be. Strong didactics, incredible leadership and support, high acuity and patient volume and so much more. It’s incredibly hard to find all of that in a program and also, find a personality fit.
Personal Hobbies/Interests: Coffee, traveling, mystery novels, hiking, cooking and spending time with family.

Professional Career Interests: After residency, I plan on practicing emergency medicine in a busy ER in Northern Michigan. 
Why did you choose CMU: CMU is one of the most reputable emergency medicine programs in the state of Michigan. I am from Michigan and have heard about this program over the years. Location was an important factor to me and CMU is in a location that offers both rural and urban patient populations. Also, the atmosphere here is what set CMU apart from other programs. Our staff treat each other like family and truly look out for one another. 
Personal Hobbies/Interests: I love to run! Recently, I completed the Chicago Marathon and am eager to sign up for another race of some sort. I also have an adorable dog that I rescued prior to residency that loves to explore Saginaw with me.
Favorite Things to do around Michigan: I love to be outside...even in the winter! Michigan is a beautiful place to call home and offers all four seasons. Fall is great for visiting local cider mills and going to football games. No matter where you reside, there are usually hiking trails to explore as well. Winter is great for ice skating, ice fishing, sledding or skiing at a nearby ski hill. Boyne and Nubs Nobs are some of my favorite places in the state and are only 2 hours away. In the summer, you can find me near any body of water. The lakes here are great for swimming, tubing, and water sports.
