Apply for financial aid

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the only way to qualify for financial aid. If you haven't yet filed your FAFSA, now is the time to do it. Be sure to use CMU’s school code - 002243.
You can turn down any loans offered if they don't fit into your plan, but it’s always good to know your options.update it to include CMU. If you are transferring mid-year, you may need to notify your current school of your plans to transfer.
Begin your housing application

How does a higher grade point average, a happier college experience, and a greater likelihood of graduating on time sound? Science says that's what living on campus will earn you, and that’s why we strongly suggest starting your CMU experience in one of our residence halls.
As a full-time transfer student, you could earn $6,000 over three years with a Residence Life Grant. One great option is our in Kulhavi Hall where you’ll live with students who have taken a similar path.
Once you've paid your deposit, you’ll be able to access the housing application. In May you’ll complete the process by picking your residence hall and room. The housing application opens in January.
Schedule your orientation

Orientation is your introduction to life as a CMU Chippewa. You’ll learn about navigating campus and most importantly, sign up for your classes in a one-on-one session with your advisor. Spots are first come, first served so it’s best to do this as soon as possible. o keep our community safe, orientation sessions may be virtual or on campus.
Don’t forget to send us your final transcripts!
