Are you eligible to attend tuition-free?

If you're a Michigan student whose family has an adjusted gross income and family assets of $65,000 or less, you may be eligible to attend CMU tuition-free with the CMU Tuition Advantage program! We'll cover the cost of 30 credit hours (15 credits in the fall and 15 credits in the spring) through a combination of federal, state and institutional aid. The best part? No separate application necessary. Once you're admitted, submit your FAFSA and we'll tell you if you qualify!

Transfer credit friendly

We accept credits from more than 2,300 institutions. Use our online Transfer Simulation Tool to see how your credits could transfer into any of our 200+ undergraduate programs.

Transfer Credit Pathways

Enter CMU with all your general education requirements, or what we call  University Program requirements, completed, including 6 credits of your writing intensive requirement, if you've:

  • Completed the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) at your community college.
  • Met the requirements of a statewide transfer agreement similar to MTA.
  • Earned an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science or other associate degree with a concentration relative to a CMU program.

You'll need to send in transcripts from each previous college you've attended. If you have earned fewer than 24 college credits, you'll also need to provide your high school transcript.

You can be admitted if your application includes unofficial transcripts, but you'll need to submit an official version before classes start to transfer any credit.

    Earn a degree and experience

Doing starts day one at CMU. That means you'll get in the lab and out in the field putting what you learn to the test the moment you step on campus.

    • 227 on-campus labs
    • 44 art and performance spaces
    • 2,000+ internship opportunities across the globe

So, you'll graduate with the confidence — and the experience — to launch your career.

That's why nearly 95% of our grads are employed, engaged in volunteer programs or continuing their education within six months.*

    Life in Mount Pleasant

Get to know where you'll call home for the next four years. Campus is just a few minutes walk from downtown, where you'll find cafés, shops and parks to explore.

Three students stand on a downtown city sidewalk laughing. The sidewalk has small shops lining the street.

Grab a bite to eat downtown, bring your own chair and enjoy a summer concert series, or grab tickets to see a headliner. You can take yoga classes, visit the farmers market and do some shopping. The best part? It's all just minutes from campus.

Take a break from studying in Mount Pleasant's parks! Breathe some fresh air at one of 19 nature preserves; canoe, kayak and tube 80 miles of the Chippewa River; or relax in the grass at Island Park.
