Eligibility, Terms and Conditions
The Central Career Guarantee (The Guarantee) is an opt-in opportunity for students who meet the following eligibility, terms and conditions.
- Participants must be enrolled as a domestic, undergraduate student at Central Michigan University, with at least 60 credit hours remaining to earn their CMU undergraduates degree.
- Participants may be enrolled either in on-campus undergraduate academic programs, or CMU Online undergraduate academic programs.
- New students must opt in to The Guarantee in their first semester at Central Michigan University.
- Current students with 60 or more credits remaining at Central Michigan University must opt in to The Guarantee during the fall 2026 semester. Students will receive communication about the opt-in process.
- Participants must thoroughly complete The Guarantee program, which includes but is not limited to: Attending regular meetings with academic advisors, success and career coaches; Participating in university events and activities; Completing steps on their career roadmap, which they will develop with their advisor and career coach; and Taking advantage of Career Development Center resources.
- Participants will be presented with the full Guarantee program upon their opt-in date. Requirements and expectations to remain eligible for The Guarantee will be provided to participants at that time.
- Participants must demonstrate and document good faith efforts to secure a job offer and/or acceptance into graduate school.
- Failure to complete each phase of The Guarantee program, up to and including job and/or graduate school searches, will be considered "opting out" of the program, and the participant will no longer be eligible for the $2,000 Guarantee return.
- Participants who complete each phase of The Guarantee program and can demonstrate a lack of job offer or acceptance into graduate school six months after their graduation date, must communicate with the university/apply for their Guarantee return in order to be awarded the $2,000.
- Graduate students, international students, students who are not eligible to work in the United States and students who have fewer than 60 credit hours remaining at CMU are not eligible for the Central Career Guarantee.
- Students must be in good academic and financial standing at the time of graduation in order to be eligible for The Guarantee.
- Participants who complete The Guarantee program and choose to start their own business will not be eligible for the $2,000 Guarantee return.
- Any offer of a position that is degree-required or degree-preferred from an employer’s perspective, or that is student-desired, even if not in their field of study, qualifies as a job offer. Positions can be full-time or part-time positions.
- Any offer from an accredited university offering the program participant's program of choice qualifies as an acceptance into graduate school. If The Guarantee program participant receives an offer of acceptance and chooses not to accept it, they are ineligible to receive the $2,000 Guarantee return.
