What GEAR UP means to me…..

GEAR UP has been a tremendous impact on my life positively. In high school, I had the privilege of being in the program my senior year, which was a time I needed the program most. It was the closing chapter of my high school career and the opening chapter of my  college experience. Before entering the program, I honestly had no clue as to what college I would attend or what I would study. That was one of the major reasons why I became a part of GEAR UP. I needed to start to put my future goals and plans together. Not only did the program help me with that, but the staff played a major part as well. If I ever needed any questions, they would always have an answer for me. None of them had a problem with helping me with any task and accomplishments. They have become more than just GEAR UP staff to me, but mentors and those whom I can confide in with things outside of academia. Without GEAR UP I would not be attending Central Michigan University and my academic plans would have still been up in the air. GEAR UP means way more than Gaining Early Awareness Readiness for Undergraduate Programs to me. It means opportunities, academics, experience, and overall success!
