The MI GEAR UP Program announced today it's celebration of National GEAR UP Week. These days commemorates the continuing success of the transformative Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) grant, a college access program created during the Clinton Administration. Since its inception in 1999, GEAR UP has improved educational outcomes for millions of low-income students across the United States.
As part of the National GEAR UP week (September 10 - 14, 2012), Central Michigan University's GEAR UP program will recognize students from Flint Community Schools who have graduated or currently attending a college or university. Current and past students will have an opportunity to share their story within the GEAR UP "Hall of Fame" which will be showcased in each of the GEAR UP buildings.
If you, or if you know of someone who graduated from Flint Schools' and is currently attending college
or have graduated, please forward this to them. Please answer the
following questions and submit with a high school or college graduation
photo (preferably 4x6) to tina.natale@cmich.edu by September 10th. Your
information will be displayed in our local schools, CMU's GEAR UP online
Facebook photo album and a "yearbook " will be compiled.
