Dr. Traci Guinn
Interim Associate Vice President for Diversity

Dr. Traci Guinn has been employed at Central Michigan University since 1998. As the child of a retired Air Force officer, Dr.
Guinn has lived many places during her life. Born in Shreveport,
Louisiana; she then went to high school in Honolulu, Hawaii and college
in Memphis, Tennessee. She holds a Doctorate in Higher Education
Administration from Central Michigan University, a Master of Arts in
Educational Administration and Community Leadership from CMU, and a
Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of
Memphis. Dr. Guinn currently serves as the Interim Associate Vice
President for Institutional Diversity. Prior to joining the Diversity
division, she served as the director of the Multicultural Academic
Student Services office for 13 years. When she first arrived to CMU,
Dr. Guinn worked in the Admissions office as associate director of
admissions for minority enrollment. Dr. Guinn enjoys working with
students from recruitment to graduation from graduate school.

Jamie Brown

Jamie Brown has worked at Central Michigan University since 1999. Prior to serving as the Interim Director for Multicultural Academic Student Services, she was an Academic Advisor in the Towers residence hall complex and worked with CMU's orientation program. Jamie has also served as the Assistant Director of Student Life, as a Residence Hall Director and faculty instructor for FYE 101. She holds a Master of Arts in Educational Administration and Community Leadership from CMU and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Indiana University, Bloomington. Jamie is currently pursuing her PhD at Michigan State University in their Higher Adult and Lifelong Education program. Jamie enjoys working with students to get them connected to be successful both in and out of the classroom.
D'Wayne Jenkins
Assistant Director, Cultural Programming
East St. Louis, Illinois
D’Wayne Jenkins is new to Central Michigan University and the Multicultural Academic Student Services office. He is a two-time graduate of
Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC), with a bachelor’s of Science
degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s of Science in Workforce Education
Development. While attending SIUC, D’Wayne had the privilege of working as a
graduate assistant with several programs that emphasized support and access of
education, specifically for first-generation, low-income students. After
leaving SIUC, D’Wayne became the Principal Counselor/Advisor for TRiO Student
Support Services program at Eastern Illinois (EIU). At EIU, D’Wayne advised
several student organizations and coordinated a mentoring program for minority
male students called the S.T.R.O.N.G. MENtoring Program. He hopes to bring both
positivity and creativity to CMU and looks forward to building great
relationships!

Amber Johnson
Assistant Director, Mentoring & Scholarships

Amber Johnson holds a Master of Science in Human Development
and Family Studies and a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Child Development from Central Michigan University. Prior to
joining the Multicultural Academic Student Services professional staff, Amber
served as a Graduate Assistant, Senior Multicultural Advancement and Lloyd M. Cofer Residential College Peer Advisor, First Year Experience Mentor, and
Resident Assistant. Amber is involved in
various organizations that promote academic empowerment, community service,
mentoring, equity, and cultural awareness. She enjoys working with students,
faculty, and staff and hopes to build relationships and provide assistance to
anyone who stops by our office.

Tara Novak
Administrative Secretary

novak1tm@cmich.eduTara Novak has been with Central Michigan University since 2006. She recently graduated with her Bachelor of Integrated Leadership Studies from Central Michigan University and is pursuing her Master's in Human Resource Administration. Tara is very excited to be a part of the Multicultural Academic Student Services family and hopes to see many new students and staff stop by the office for a visit or attend some of the terrific events that the office has to offer.
Michael McArthur
Peer Assisted Learning Specialists Program Coordinator

Michael McArthur has been at Central Michigan University since beginning as a student in 2005. Michael began working in Multicultural Academic Student Services in 2010 as a Graduate Assistant. Michael primarily works with the Peer Assisted Learning Specialists Program, as well as the Men About Change Mentoring Program. Michael is a recent Master of Arts graduate from Central Michigan University, with a Media Management concentration.
Henry Hammond
Graduate Assistant, Lead Peer Advisor

Henry Hammond has been at Central Michigan University since beginning as a student in 2006. He has worked for Multicultural Academic Student Services since 2007 as a student and now as a Graduate Assistant. Henry primarily works with the Multicultural Advancement & Lloyd M. Cofer Scholarship Program as well as the Men About Change Mentoring Program. Henry loves working with students and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership.
Eris Taylor
Graduate Assistant
Southfield, Michigan
Eris is a new member of the office of Multicultural Academic Student Services. He recently graduated from Central Michigan University with his Bachelor of Applied Arts Degree in Entrepreneurship. He is the current of the adviser of Men About Change Mentoring Program. He enjoys cooking and has his own catering business. Eris is currently pursing a Masters of Science Degree in General Administration.
