On March 25, 2026, Central Michigan University honored nineteen members of the CMU community who authored, edited, or translated seventeen books during the calendar year 2025. Held every spring, the Book Recognition Event recognizes faculty, staff, and emeriti who have published creative or scholarly books.

The annual event is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the University Libraries. According to Kathy Irwin, Dean of University Libraries, “This year’s event celebrates scholarly and creative works spanning technology, health and medicine, education, communication, the humanities, and the arts. Collectively, these books highlight the honorees’ dedication to interdisciplinary research, creative expression, and real-world impact. Producing a book is a time-consuming process, and we commend and congratulate this year’s honorees for their accomplishments.”

Provost Paula Lancaster added, “One of the things I love about spring is the opportunities we take to recognize the many, many contributions of our faculty, staff, and students through special events like the Book Recognition Event. Thank you to Dean Kathy Irwin and the University Libraries’ staff for organizing this lovely afternoon. Bringing together these authors, editors, and translators of exceptional work was truly special. They share their wisdom and expertise with readers, add knowledge and creativity to their disciplines, and inspire future generations of scholars and creatives to publish their work. Congratulations to all.”
