Sure, we could just tell you what life is like at CMU. Or, you could see it for yourself with a campus visit.

Hear from admissions on all things applications, scholarships and programs and take a tour of campus led by the best experts there are – our students. All you need to do is pick your visit, grab your comfy shoes and bring along your support crew.

What type of visit is right for you?

    There’s no better way to find your fit than by experiencing campus in person! Your visit will kick off with an admissions presentation where you'll discover:

    • CMU’s hands-on approach to learning
    • The many ways we support students success
    • Scholarship opportunities
    • How to apply and your next steps

    After that, you'll head out on a guided tour led by a current student ambassador. You'll explore:

    • CMU's innovative academic buildings
    • The lively Student Activity Center
    • A residence hall showroom, your future home away from home

    IMPORTANT: This is a big-picture look at the CMU experience. If you're hoping to dive deeper into a specific academic program, we'd recommend attending our Campus Visits with Faculty Connection (available during the academic school year).

    Need a second look? Maybe you’ve already been here, but want to explore campus again to see specific spots. This tour-only option is great for returning visitors who may wish to see a residence hall room.

    First-time visitors are encouraged to attend a Presentation and Campus Tour.

    Curious about a specific academic area?

    These special campus visits include all the same details you’d get on a regular tour, plus an optional opportunity to connect with an expert from your area of interest. It’s a great way to ask questions and get a closer look at the programs that matter to you.

    Campus Visits with a Faculty Connection are available during the academic school year.

    We welcome high school groups to visit campus, connect with the CMU Admissions team and engage with current students. Your students will discover the value of a Central Michigan University education – from our modern approach to academics to our vibrant and supportive community.

    About the visit
    After a presentation from an Admissions staff member, you will embark on a 90-minute group walking tour to see areas of campus, including a residence hall room, the Student Activity Center, Park Library, Bovee University Center and two academic buildings. This program runs from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

From Junior Visit Days guiding juniors through college preparations and the Multicultural Visit Program (MVP) focusing on inclusivity, to Discover CMU showcasing hands-on learning, there's something for everyone.     Virtual Options

    Unable to visit in person? Join us for an online real-time presentation with the Admissions team, or schedule a virtual one-on-one appointment to get your questions answered. You can also go on our virtual tour, anytime!

    Explore Mount Pleasant

    While you're in town, explore Mount Pleasant – your home for the next few years! It's a small-town feel with big-city amenities. Mount Pleasant is a great community to live in during your college career. 

    Inclement weather

    Program events may be altered at the discretion of our office to ensure the safety of our campus visitors and tour guides.

    The campus walking tour will be replaced with a virtual tour presentation and a student panel discussion under the following conditions:

    • Thunder/lightning.
    • Tornado watch/warning.
    • Other severe or dangerous weather conditions.

    During this alternative presentation, you'll still get to see the campus (virtually) from the eyes of a current student. Our student Campus Ambassadors will be there to answer your questions and discuss their experiences as CMU Chippewas. 

    Please note that non-threatening conditions will not alter visits. Visits may occasionally occur in the rain and uncomfortable temperatures. Please dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if necessary.

    In the rare instance when CMU experiences a weather-related campus closure, all admissions programs and tours will be canceled. The admissions office will contact all scheduled visitors via call, email and/or text if a tour needs to be canceled.
