CMU Board to consider campus renovation and construction projects
Trustees will also discuss the Advancing Health Together initiative
The Central Michigan University Board of Trustees will meet in its formal session at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 21, following scheduled committee meetings on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
Items on the agenda for the November sessions include discussion of proposed renovations in several campus buildings, construction of a new golf training facility, and deferred maintenance projects. Trustees also will discuss new developments in the Advancing Health Together initiative.
Other items on the meeting agenda include:
- Emeritus rank for faculty and staff members
- Faculty personnel transactions
- Prospective graduates for Fall 2025
- Honorary degree recipients
- State capital outlay report and project request
- Marketing budget increase for fiscal year 2026
- An international student deposit
- Delegation of lease authority for CMURC, Smart Zone and Public Broadcasting
- New and changing endowments, awards and scholarships
- An appointment to the Clarke Historical Library Board of Governors
Highlights for Thursday’s committee meetings include:
- Academic and Student Affairs Committee, 2:00-3:00 p.m. – Provost and Executive Vice President Paula Lancaster will offer an update on the Academic Affairs division, including an update from Senior Vice Provost Dave Patton on the Higher Learning Commission accreditation process. Vice President of University Engagement and Student Affairs Shawna Patterson-Stephens will provide an update on her division, along with a presentation on the CMU CARES team from Director Andrea Roggenbuck. Senior Director of Admissions Bob Garcia will provide an enrollment and retention update.
- Finance and Facilities Committee, 3:00-3:55 p.m. – Vice President of Finance and Administrative Services Mary Hill and Associate Vice President of Facilities Management Jonathan Webb will provide an update on facilities and proposed campus renovations. The committee will discuss agenda items for consideration in Thursday’s formal session, including deferred maintenance projects, Merrill and Ronan Hall renovations, construction of a new golf training facility, campus utility contracts, and the University Advancement private support report.
- Trustees-Faculty Liaison Committee, 4:00-4:45 p.m. – Robert Bouwman, manager of the Standardized Patient Simulation Center, will describe how the CMU College of Medicine’s Standardized Patient Program gives medical students valuable experience in communicating with patients and performing physical examinations. Bouwman will be joined by students Tejas Bhat Kakunje and Mikakyla Holli Horsley as well as standardized patients Jamille Schlafly and Patrick Johnston.
- Trustees-Student Liaison Committee, 4:45-5:30 p.m. – Student Government Association President Akua Amofaa Acheampong and Vice President Kathryn House will offer a report on Student Government Association activities. Program Board President Kendall Fowler and Residence Housing Association Director Max Fusaro also will provide updates from their organizations.

Board of Trustees meetings are open to the university community and members of the public. All meetings will be held in the President’s Conference Room in the Bovee University Center, with seating for up to 25 individuals in the adjoining Lake Superior Room.
