CMU Online leader announces search for next Associate Vice President

Kaleb Patrick, vice president of CMU Online, has announced the launch of a national search for Central Michigan University’s next Associate Vice President of CMU Online. The position serves as a senior leader within CMU Online and will provide strategic oversight for the development, growth and delivery of online, hybrid, off-campus, and alternative academic programming.

Reporting directly to the vice president, the associate vice president will collaborate with academic colleges, faculty, staff and external partners to advance innovative, accessible, and student-centered learning opportunities that support CMU’s strategic priorities.

"We are seeking a visionary leader who understands the changing educational landscape and can help advance academic innovation, student success and institutional growth across the university."

To support the search process, Patrick has appointed a search committee, which he will chair. The search committee will play a vital role in recruiting and evaluating candidates for this important leadership position. Members of the committee are:

• Katie Bollman, executive director of online student services, CMU Online
• Sanjay Kumar, associate dean, College of Business Administration
• Abbey McGuire, fixed-term faculty member, Master of Science Administration
• Robert VanDorin, executive director, Business and Community Outreach, CMU Online
• Eleanor Wilson, Graduate Student, CMU Online

The associate vice president oversees the academic unit within CMU Online and supports the expansion of undergraduate, graduate, certificate, professional development, micro-credential and alternative pathway programs. The role also provides leadership for prior learning assessment initiatives, competency-based education efforts, dual enrollment opportunities and workforce-aligned programming.

The successful candidate will work across the university to strengthen partnerships, support enrollment growth, enhance student success outcomes, and foster innovation in online and distance education. The position requires substantial leadership experience, expertise in online learning, and a commitment to collaboration and data-informed decision-making.
