Eight Central Michigan University students and theatre faculty members Ann Dasen and Paul Collins attended the regional Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in Madison, Wisconsin, in January.

KCACTF brings together students from colleges and universities throughout the United States. The program provides students an opportunity to compete, enjoy productions and participate in workshops.

Theatre and interpretation student Adie Harig received the Society of Properties Artisan Management Award as well as honorable mention in the Allied Design & Technologies Award. Theater and interpretation student Emily Mick was a finalist for her stage management work in “Shakuntala.”

Actors compete after months of preparation that includes finding material, rehearsing, getting coached, etc. Stage managers and design/tech students also have to spend equally as long preparing, as they have to give a presentation about whatever projects they have completed.

Workshops are tailored to attendees’ interests and include acting, design, and tech or stage management.
