Central Michigan University President Neil MacKinnon today announced a change in leadership of University Marketing and Communications, as Harlan Teller has resigned from his position. His resignation is effective immediately.

Teller began his tenure at CMU on August 1, 2025, following a nationwide search. He said he plans to return to his home in Arizona to spend more time with his family.

MacKinnon said he will soon announce interim leadership for the unit. A decision about a national search for the next leader of University Marketing and Communications will be made after considering the needs of the university community and the University Marketing and Communications team.

“I have appreciated the opportunity to get to know and work with Harlan over the past nine months,” MacKinnon said. “I look forward to continuing to partner in the incredible work of the University Marketing and Communications team in the months ahead as we make a plan for next steps.”
