Sethu Reddy, M.D. recognized by AACE for his longstanding distinguished service
The American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) has honored Sethu Reddy, M.D., senior associate dean of Research in the Covenant HealthCare College of Medicine at Central Michigan University, with the Yank D. Coble, Jr., M.D. Distinguished Service Award.
This award is presented annually to an AACE member and clinical endocrinologist who is recognized by their peers as a leader in medicine and whose personal and professional conduct reflects the values and vision of AACE. Its namesake, Yank D. Coble, Jr., M.D., was a founding father of AACE who also served as president of the American College of Endocrinology, the American Medical Association and the World Medical Association.
For more than 45 years, Reddy has been passionate about imparting clinical skills to medical students and trainees at all levels. He founded the longest-running board-oriented endocrinology course at the Cleveland Clinic, reaching several thousand clinical endocrinologists throughout America over the last three decades.
His research interests are primarily devoted to clinical endocrinology, including obesity and thyroid disorders, and the epidemiology of diabetes and its complications. Reddy has authored and co-authored more than 200 articles, abstracts, and book chapters concerning these and related topics.
"Dr. Reddy's selection for the Yank D. Coble, Jr., M.D. Distinguished Service Award is a well-deserved recognition of a career dedicated to advancing endocrinology through clinical excellence, research, education, and service,” said Interim Dean Tina Thompson. “His impact extends far beyond the patients he has cared for and the discoveries he has helped advance. Through his mentorship of students, residents, fellows and faculty, he has shaped generations of physicians and scientists. We are so proud to have Dr. Reddy as a member of our leadership team and congratulate him on this prestigious honor."
Reddy is a pillar of the AACE community. He has served on over 100 committees and as past president. He continues to be active on several AACE initiatives and is an internationally recognized endocrinology speaker. In 2007, he earned the distinction of Mastership in the American College of Endocrinology. Prior to his tenure at CMU, Reddy served as the chief of Adult Diabetes at Joslin Diabetes Center at Harvard, the chairman of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at the Cleveland Clinic, and as the vice president for US Medical Affairs at Merck.
